Cosmetic Dentistry Rota-Dent
Rota-dent - Rotary Oral Hygiene Device, included in the Soft Tissue Management Program, is a revolutionary home care oral hygiene device.
Education in using this exceptional instrument will be provided for you during each office visit.
One of the principal causes of gum inflammation and bleeding is the inability for most people to floss below the gum line and get the bacteria out of the gum crevice. For those people we perform ROOT PLANING, a process in which our hygienist mechanically removes the hardened plaque and makes the area more accessible for future cleansing.
Homecare Use of the Rota-dent Oral Hygiene Device
- Mount the Rota-dent conveniently in the bathroom so it will always be accessible.
- Use the Rota-dent gently at a 90 degree angle where gum and tooth meet. Use
the short pointed tip for biting surfaces, at the gumline for cleaning below gumline, and between teeth.
Use the hollow cup for sides of teeth. Use the long pointed tip for open spaces and exposed roots.
- Cleanse all surfaces inside and outside without toothpaste, as we have directed.
- Be sure to use thumb on chin and firm palm grip to keep brush from wandering.
- Foaming indicates plaque removal. It will become less obvious as each day passes.
- Follow with a very light brushing with gel paste or mouthwash as instructed.
- As the tone of the tissue improves, the tickling sensation will disappear.
- Rinse debris from tip.
If you have questions, be sure to contact our office. We are here to serve you.
Patients who have used the Rota-dent have found it more enjoyable to brush their teeth. It virtually replaces the conventional tooth brush and improves flossing results. Also, patients who have found it difficult to floss find this oral hygiene device perfect for their personal life style and habits.
It is particularly effective in hard-to-reach, neglected, or improperly flossed areas.
Patients with orthodontic appliances have found it to be invaluable in removing plaque and bacteria from the edges of their appliances and around arch wires. The shape of the brush tips effectively clean below the gum line and between the teeth. They move easily into hard-to-reach areas.
We know you will enjoy this new, pleasant oral hygiene device. When taking care of your teeth feels good, continued dental health becomes an easy and pleasant daily task.
